GM 3.1L / 3.4L V6 Intake Manifold Gasket Set This item is exactly what the doctor ordered for those of you who are suffering from the dreaded LIM gasket failure on GM cars equipped with the 3.1L or 3.4L V6 engine. It typically manifests itself as milky, antifreeze contaminated oil. The engine may be overheating as well. This is due to a physical breakdown of the existing OEM plastic and silicone gasket. It lacks the strength to deal with the expansion and contraction at the interface between the aluminum cylinder heads, aluminum intake manifold, and the cast iron engine block. This allows antifreeze from the cooling passages to leak internally, externally and/or sometimes both. Either way, this product will fix the problem permanently. It contains rubber coated steel PermaDry lower intake manifold gaskets. You can find an excellent how to on GM 3.1L / 3.4L LIM Gasket replacement here: [...] This particular part number, MS98003T applies to newer 3.4L V6's from 1999 onwards. For older 3.1L's up to 1998, use MS98004T. Be sure that you use ONLY one of these two sets. There are other, cheaper sets that duplicate the original OEM gasket construction materials. They WILL fail in short order. From about mid 2003 onwards, these improved gaskets are installed as stock from the factory, replacing the old plastic ones. Auto parts at Amazon?
I needed an intake manifold set for a Ford 4 liter v6 engine (not the most popular engine in the world), so I did a web search to find the best price. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Amazon had it, and at a price that was much better than anyone else's. On top of that, there was a 20% discount for orders over $100, so I just added a couple of other items to get it. I'm amazed at the savings; it was like about half the retail price!

As for the product itself, Fel-Pro is the industry leader in gaskets, so it's hard to go wrong getting anything from them. This package contains everything you need to replace the intake manifold gaskets, for a couple different variations on the engine. This includes gaskets for the valve covers, the two gaskets (or O-ring sets) that go between the upper and lower plenums that sandwich the fuel rail, and of course, the intake manifold gaskets themselves. They've wisely gone with RTV silicone rubber to replace the end seals.

Fel-Pro included a note that exactly described one of the leaks that I had; the water passage on the intake face of the head had some corrosion caused by the failure of the original gasket. If this is severe, the face needs to be resurfaced somehow, or the new gasket will not seal it.
